‘The greatest replica of the legendary Roland TB-303’
-Lucia Greco, Nightmag
A faithful re-creation
This artwork celebrates the original synth while making it accessible and most importantly fun to play. We focused on the joy of the distinctive distortion effects while also adding the ability to layer beats and samples.
Classic 303 sounds, 216 times the size!

DISTINCTIVE SOUND
With an unmistakable sonic signature brimming with warmth, energy, and character, the Roland TB-303 defined the acid house movement of the late 1980s. Widely misunderstood when launched in 1981, the true revolution began several years later when electronic music producers rediscovered the quirky box, unleashing the hypnotic, liquid sound that captivated a generation.

Background
After witnessing our original interactive sculpture, the 9ft-909, Bangface challenged us to make an interactive artwork based on the infamous bassline synth the Roland TB-303. We returned the following year with the ‘Giant 303’, which was ecstatically welcomed and became a regular part of the event thereafter.
The Giant 303 was created to celebrate the legacy of the original machine but it was ultimately designed to bring people together in the moment to enjoy creating and playing. The reception of the artwork far exceeded our expectations and since its launch in 2016 has become a well traveled and much loved art install at festivals around the UK and beyond.
